Every Thursday I would like to try to add a recipe to the website for you to have and to try. So today the girls and I decided that we wanted to make Sugar Cookies. I have a great and easy recipe. It only took about 30 minutes to do from start to finish. It is also really fun and easy for the kids to help!
Tessa and Izabella really got into cutting the cookies and were excited to have them baked so they could eat them up.
So here is the recipe I use:
Soft Sugar Cookies:
1 1/2 Cups of Sugar
1 1/2 Cups of Shortening
1 Tbsp Vanilla
1 cup of Milk
6 tsp of Baking Powder
1 tsp of Salt
5-6 cups of Flour*
Cream together the Sugar and the Shortening. Add Eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together the dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to the shortening mixture. Add vanilla. Roll to desired thickness and cut out cookies.
Bake at 375 for 7-8 minutes
*Add flour until dough is a good consistency to handle
This recipe for me today made 44 cookies. Of course that would vary depending on what cookie cutters you use. Have fun, and get those kiddos involved, they will love it!
